I started working out with Mike and BMF once I was cleared to exercise after my 2nd kid. So, 8 weeks post partum and I wanted to be strong enough to keep up with a growing baby and soon to be 4 year old.

Mike has been amazing and so encouraging. I went from doing just gym workouts 1 on 1 to doing 1 personal training a week with Mike and 2 at home workout’s a week. I have become stronger than any other time since I was in college and playing soccer 4 times a week. I’m more toned in my legs and arms than ever and able to keep up with both my boys and husband.

I’m excited to get stronger still, especially in my core and upper body and love working out with Mike. He listens to me and adjusts workouts to my limitations (neck and back issues) but pushes me to always do more and be better.

The path to success is not linear. It’s a winding road with lots of ups and downs. For many years I struggled to get to the gym. In 2020 I joined BMF at 225 pounds with 27% body fat. Over the years I would fluctuate in weight and body fat % never being able to get under 22%. You can’t outwork a bad diet. In 2022 I dedicated myself to balance. I learned more about nutrition and fueling my body for my workouts (shoutout @rochelleleguern ). I’m at 206lbs with 19% body fat & the most muscle mass I’ve ever had. For so long I saw little results but staying true to the process will get you there in due time.

Before BMF, I frequented public gyms with no plan or even proper knowledge of strength training or nutrition really. On my own I didn’t see the results that I was after, it just felt like I was wasting time at the gym and it became exhausting. Not only that, there was always waiting around for machines and weights along with an intimidating atmosphere from all the buff and tough regular gym goers and as a woman, that can totally have an effect on the efficiency of your workout in my opinion especially if you experience anxiety from over crowded places. A few months ago I felt like I was becoming stagnant in my training and my fitness. I wanted to reach the next level but it seemed like everything I did at the time was just counterproductive. I sat with Mike and went over a game plan on what I needed to do to break through and start reaching new highs in my performance. I gave up all alcohol and made a commitment to myself. Some years back I found myself in a rut. I was dissatisfied with my life choices, surroundings, but most importantly, my physical and mental health.

Yet, in that season of my life there was always a conviction inside of me that i could turn it all around for the better!

I did manage to drop some weight on my own by trying different diets and going to random gyms aimlessly working out with minor to no gains.

There had to be a better way.

I was introduced to Michael at BMF by my brother and that’s where the real change came.

I Started off by attending workout sessions 1-3 times per week to now being there 5 days a week!

I started my workout journey about a year ago & really struggled to find what I enjoyed. Ever since I started working out at BMF I have a whole new outlook on getting fit. At first, I just wanted to be skinny and that was my ONLY goal. But, after meeting Mike and learning the values of BMF I realized that I would rather be strong, healthy, and consistent in my life style. In just 3 months of consistently working out and changing my eating habits I was able to lose 20lbs with Mike’s help. First of all I want to start by thanking BMF for opening my eyes and enlightening me about weight training. All my life I’ve been an athlete but I never took weight training serious. I’ve been with bmf for 2 years and I can see and feel the difference. What I love about BMF is that we work on strength, cardio, mobility and recovery all together. The environment in the gym is probably the best in the area nothing but great people come here and the coaching staff is highly experienced and educated about strength & conditioning. One of my favorite things is that BMF not only works on strength but targets areas that are hurting us. I’ve struggled with knee injuries from wear & tear because of what I do. BMF has strengthen my knees a lot and I haven’t had knee issues in a while. Thank you to everyone at BMF coaches & athletes for motivating me to becoming a better athlete!

I joined BMF Training in July 2021. The before and after picture is only after 4 months of diligent training! As a programmer, I spend most of my waking hours sitting at my desk without making any time for stretching and exercise. I was starting to get some hip tightness so it was a wake up call to make some changes to my lifestyle. Coach Mike was originally my Muay Thai coach and that’s how I came to learn about the program. The results I had in just 4 months was honestly astonishing, and I’m confident that if it weren’t for BMF I wouldn’t be at the strength level I’m at today. I went from needing two resistance bands for pullups to being able to do 4 pullups in a row at bodyweight in just 3 months! While I’m still hovering around the same weight, I’m 3x stronger and have 3x the endurance that I had before starting at BMF. The next step for me is to work on my crappy diet. Luckily BMF offers nutrition programs as well! I highly recommend BMF Training to any and all fitness levels, and I’m looking forward to seeing my progress in another 4 months. Level up!

I joined BMF March of this year. This before picture was actually taken on my first day at BMF!! At this point, I was defeated after working front line with Covid. I was in a very negative mental state with not much to look forward to beside another day at work. So, my cousin Pilar really pushed me to join so I can distract and work on myself and I’m super thankful she pushed me. I am now mentally stronger than I have been for a long time, physically also. Thank you MIKE and BMF family!!!! You guys are so motivating, simply by being around you & seeing you guys kick butt! I remember starting barely been able to lift anything over 10 sometimes 15, now my brain and muscle connection is so intact and I can lift double that! Even my posture is better🥲 the amount of times Mike told me to arch my back, chest out, butt out..... 🤣 I didn’t think I could fix that. But BMF did that! BMF Training, badass mother fucker. That’s exactly how I feel every day leaving the gym!
A few years ago before I had Balance, Mobility or any type of Functional strength, Kori convinced me to come workout with her one morning. I was so nervous and scared but it was the best decision of my life!
It challenged me physically, mentally but also to be an all around healthy and a better human.
Training with Mike and the BMF family is soo much more than a workout. It’s being surrounded by people that want to see you Succeed so you believe in yourself! Plus you get a juicy booty.
Obviously I think Mike is the best coach on the whole damn planet, and has the cutest butt 🍑 (not only because he’s my fiancé) but because I see day in and day how how MUCH he fucking cares about every single client!! I don’t know how he comes up with these crazy workouts but they work. They are smart. They challenge you in the best way possible.

I started training with Mike in November 2020 after recovering from shoulder surgery in January 2020. I was very motivated to strengthen my upper body and improve my overall range of motion. My shoulder has recovered and I am stronger than I have ever been. Mike’s workouts have challenged me to lift heavier and be more dynamic in my workouts. In less than a year, I have lost 2% body fat and gained overall skeletal muscle mass. The team is motivating and I appreciate all the encouragement and support. My goal is to be able to do 10 unassisted pull-ups and I think I can do 7-8. One day, when I stop eating carbs and drinking wine and beer, I might see my six pack. Thank you BMF!!

BMF has impacted my life in so many ways. All positive of course. I couldn’t be anymore thankful and blessed to be where I am today. I am emotionally, mentally, and physically stronger. I made the commitment to join in March and it was by far the best decision I’ve made for myself. I made it a goal to tone my body and i have done just that 🥲 i am so proud of myself. BMF has challenged me in so many ways, I’ve done workouts I’ve never thought I’d be capable of. Doing what I thought was impossible is now possible for me all thanks to Mike! I’ve never worked out in a group setting before. I’ve always gone alone to the gym and put my headphones on and minded my business, at BMF it’s a completely different environment... you kind of don’t want to mind your business and cheer on others around you lol Everyone wants to see you win, you are never alone, you are never competing, everyone shows up for themselves and they kill it every single workout. I started group training with Mike in March 2020. After years of trying every kind of workout, I feel like I have found my home at BMF training. Before training with Mike, I focused only on cardio and light weight lifting (5-10lbs). My weight had gotten down to 115, but I had very little muscle mass and my overall body fat was high. Over the past year, I have decreased my overall body fat and increased my muscle mass. I have learned how to challenge myself and feel comfortable lifting weights with Mike’s maximum effort and dynamic effort workouts. I love the consistency with the workouts and that I am able to track my progress. The app allows me to get my workouts in even when I can’t make it to the classes. My current goal is to lose the wine weight I put on during the Covid quarantine. Thanks to Mike and the amazing athletes that motivate me to be stronger and healthier!

“Before I started weight training with Coach Mike and starting my new eating habits. I honestly didn’t know the first thing to get in shape. After I graduated high school everything sort of went downhill with my eating habits and working out. I would hopped on every other diet I heard of just to try to shed weight, with minimal exercise. I had honestly hit rock bottom I had no motivation or determination. I started training with Coach Mike weighing in at 340lbs, and I have to say since I have started I have never felt so welcomed in the BMF Family. I did not feel any “gymtimidation” everyone including Coach Mike were so positive and encouraging and always hyping me up to use my full potential while working out. To this day I now weigh in at 264lbs and couldn’t be anymore happier! “First I would like to start off by thanking Jo Nunez for introducing me to Michael because I would not be where I am at today both physically and mentally without BMF Training.
Before I started with BMF, I thought drinking spinach smoothies and running consistently was going to give me the “ideal body” that I wanted, but little did I know, I had lost all my muscle from softball and dropped down to 103 pounds. Fast forward a couple years and having a career change to wanting to become a police officer, I knew that being that small with absolutely no upper and lower body strength was going to benefit me in any way. Working out for about a year now, I have accomplished one of my main goals and that was being able to jump a 6 foot wall and drag a 165 pound dummy. I would not have done that if it wasn’t for @bmftraining pushing me and telling me to go up in weight, no matter how many times I try to negotiate with him. Two & half years ago I decided to give weight training a fair chance, even though I was skeptical. I must admit, I did not think I was going to benefit from it. I have always struggled with my weight and I was never in shape. I would do crazy diets hoping to shed some pounds to only realize I was basically starving myself. Mike as a coach has opened my eyes to a healthy lifestyle of both fitness and nutrition. He has taught me that I can be self-disciplined, consistent, and not to overthink things, to just do it! “Your stronger than you think” …I hear his voice every time I start to trip myself out thinking I cannot lift or carry something heavy. “My weight Lost journey has been full of ups and downs. There’s a big physical difference between these two photos but man, the mental difference has been Astronomical. When i was invited to workout at BMF and train with Michael, i was at one of my lower points in this journey of mine. I was training every other day or so and drinking more calories than I was working off, that’s when Coach Mike said some thing that put me back on track mentally and physically, “excessive drinking and working out every other day isn’t going to make the difference you want”. I knew I had to wake up and take my physical and mental health seriously again and stop making excuses. There is plenty of excuses not to do something, but truly all you need is that ONE reason to do something, and I encourage everyone to take that reason and run with it.
From there Michael helped me train everyday and prepare me for my next big journey, the US Navy. I could not have done this without his experience, training, and encouragement. “I want to say how happy I am apart of BMF, before finding Mike I had already lost the motivation to maintain a healthy lifestyle, a routine. Coming here I wasn’t very strong and lacked conditioning. My struggle has always been weights I had never really focused on weights and keeping in mind that everything takes time. Mike has helped me gain back that desire to be better than I am when I train. I honestly always think to myself if only I would’ve met Mike in college, I would’ve been a different athlete- BETTER. First, I’d like to mention how grateful I am to have met Mike a few years back. He has truly been the most consistent thing in my, at times, inconsistent health and wellness journey. Personally, I have never considered myself to be an “athletic” person, but I’ve always tried to maintain an active lifestyle. Mike has continued to motivate me to push myself harder to become a stronger, better, and faster version of myself. “I feel blessed to have met mike as a coach then as a friend. “When I met Mike I was walking around 215 with not an ounce of discipline in my body. He started out as my Muay Thai basics coach. After a while I began to take Muay Thai more seriously and he asked me if I wanted to take a strength and conditioning class specifically for fighting. “I had known Coach Mike for a few years before I finally decided to commit to changing my lifestyle. I had been dealing with several frustrating health issues and felt like even if I get better, it would be impossible to loose weight and get in shape. I know everyone says this, but I have tried so many workout plans it’s crazy. I used to be an athlete for most of my life, so I was constantly trying to find the “thing” that would be my consistency. Three months ago I finally decided to make the commitment and start training (thanks Allie). At first, it was hard to just show up and to not skip days. I was unable to do even one sit-up, pull-up, or box jump. But Coach Mike blended a no quitters attitude with positive support. Fast forward to today, October 2020. I show up five days a week, make up missed days and can punch out weighted sit ups and hit my box jumps. I also have my new goal, that I know I will reach, to do an unassisted pull-up by the end of the year. Did I mention I’ve lost 35lbs? This group that we get to train with every day is supportive and inspiring. I tell everyone o talk to about how amazing the BMF family is and pretty much force them all to join because I know they will love it. “As I approached 30, I realized that I needed to do something sustainable for my health. Before, I felt that I was constantly working super hard to stay in shape, and I would eventually end up where I started—all that hard work for nothing! I have worked out at various gyms—CrossFit’s, Equinox, various cycling studios. I’ve done the Paleo diet and other diet fads. And though these all worked for me temporarily, they were not sustainable for me. I found myself skipping gym days and having cheat meals frequently. At the age of 30, I realized that I didn’t have anymore time for fad diets and trendy workouts. I needed to do something that my husband and I could do together, where we felt comfortable, safe, but still challenged. With hectic changes in our lives, one thing still remains the same—our workouts and health habits with Coach Mike. I’ve never felt so motivated to push myself to create a healthy lifestyle that would stick. Each day, I wake up at 4 am to begin my workdays with the wonderful people at BMF. Everyone who works out at BMF is extremely supportive and encouraging. Being an athlete at BMF has improved my mental health, especially in these uncertain times. As a teacher during times of COVID-19, it has never been more important for me to take care of my mental health. “Training with Mike is one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I am a mom of 3 and although I was able to lose the baby weight I could never get my body, especially my stomach, to look how it was before I had kids. “Growing up I’ve always been able to eat whatever I wanted and still be slim but now being 26 years old my bad eating habits were finally catching up to me. Beginning of this year I was the heaviest I had ever been and I felt so uncomfortable in my body. I was very nervous to go to a gym because I had never worked out a day in my life. “At the start of 2019 I was the heaviest I have been in my life 158 pounds. I was not feeling comfortable with the way I looked/felt and struggled majorly mentally with anxiety. I would try and do extreme diets like whole 30 or paleo that would cut certain food groups out and work out on my own and would maybe loose about 5-8 pounds but then plateau and constantly feel starving 😆 and very frustrated in tears about not seeing the weight come off and struggling in my my mind. Was very discouraged because I felt I was putting in the effort but seeing no results. At the start of 2020 kinda cheesy but I made a goal to be like wonder women in my body, mind, and spirit. I started researching more and educating myself on weight loss and the main theme is: CALORIE DEFICIT so I stopped cutting out food groups and started just intentionally seeing what I put in my body everyday. I also started doing BMF training camps then taking the work outs he was teaching us there and doing them during the week on my own. What I love about bmf community everyone is always encouraging and we are all on own journeys and starting points.At the start there were times I felt I couldn’t finish the last of the mile run and I remember Allie ran it with me even though she finished her workout already and was encouraging me as I finished, I don’t think I could have finished if she didn’t run it with me I think to go to another level in anything in life we need people around us who are at another level and encourage us to get there. Mikes mission statement is “Everyone deserves to be an athlete” and I love that bcus there is a athlete in all of us, it may not be a easy journey but it is worth it! I have now been training with mike full time for almost a month but I feel he has been guiding me the whole year. I feel stronger and more confident in my body mind and spirit and I am making goals to achieve and conquer even more. Don’t be ashamed of your starting point. The more the weight you have to loose, the more you need to conquer and the more you conquer the more of a champion you truly are. There is a athlete in all of us, let’s go and conquer💪🏼
